Description
Melville City Hockey Club is a family orientated club first founded in 1956 and is involved in all areas of hockey in W.A.
During 2009 Melville became the largest Hockey Club in the state and continues to grow in both size and stature within the broader Hockey community. Over the past ten years the number of Club Representatives in State Teams has steadily grown to the point where it has become a consistent contributor to State Teams with several players in the Perth Smokefree Thundersticks.
Along with our top men's team competing in the AHG Cup we have over 45 other teams representing the Club in Men's, Women's, Junior and Veterans competitions. Continued growth is supported through the Club's very successful sub junior "Minkey" hockey program.
The Club is also involved in indoor hockey at local, State and National levels with numerous State and National players coming from the Melville Club.
During the off season the Club has large numbers of teams playing evening "Summer Sevens" on our turf field in social, mixed teams and more serious 7-a-side competitions.
2005 saw the introduction of an International Standard Synthetic Wet Surface Hockey Field alongside our grass fields at Morris Buzacott Reserve, Kardinya. The "turf" has been one factor in maintaining our Club's standing as one of the largest yet best organized clubs in WA Hockey and has impacted positively on the sport, and overall community, in Perth's southern suburbs.
Melville prides itself on its friendly, family atmosphere and openly welcomes new players. To those who join our great Club, may your stay be long and rewarding.
