Description

Kardinya Lakes CC's formation can be traced back to the foundation of Scots Cricket Club, who commenced in the 1932/33 season. The name Scots did not emanate from any links or fixations with Scotland but it is believed the name Scots comes from the church in Fremantle where most of the original players congregated in the 1930's. Scots Church is situated by Fremantle Oval on South Terrace. In the early days Scots had no fixed home ground as the competition was only in its infancy and all games were played on neutral venues. They eventually took residence at South Fremantle High School when the competition expanded. They were the only club in the competition who had a turf wicket at the time and unlike nowadays, the players were responsible for the upkeep of the wicket and ensuring it was ready to play on. This involved rolling the wicket (they borrowed the roller from Fremantle Cricket Club), marking the grounds and even mowing the lawns. Later on however they moved to Morris Buzzacott Reserve and played on carpet for the remainder of their existence.

Kardinya Lakes can also be linked with Park Cricket Club but we are still researching this link. We do know that they were founded around 1945/46.

Scots and Park Cricket Club's merged, prior to the 1981/82 season, to form Kardinya Cricket Club. The new club played at Morris Buzzacott Reserve. Although the stand-alone Kardinya Cricket Club was only short lived, it only lasted 12 seasons, this period was by far the most successful in our club's history. During this time the club collected 3 successive 1st grade premierships along with a Colts premiership. Shortly after that period of dominance the club then won 4 premierships in 3 years in 4th grade as well as a 2nd grade and a 5th grade premiership.

Buffalo Cricket Club (who became Jandakot Lakes Cricket Club prior to the 1984/85 season) was formed in 1979/80 and played at Tempest and Anning Parks. They competed until 1993/94 when they merged with Kardinya Cricket Club to create Kardinya Lakes Cricket Club.
